Professional Development Statement
Portfolio of instructional design projects, learning artifacts, and graduate work supporting adult learning at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi.
I am a passionate advocate for continuing education and lifelong learning, which has guided my pursuit of a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Educational Technology at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (The Island University). My professional focus lies in exploring innovative tools and emerging technologies, leveraging their potential to enhance both educational experiences and workplace learning.
When I began this program, my understanding of advanced instructional methodologies and technology integration was at a foundational level. Through rigorous coursework and hands-on projects, I have developed a deep expertise in instructional design principles, applying them effectively to create micro-instructions, blended learning solutions, and professional development materials in real-world settings. This program has been transformative for my professional growth, inspiring me to continue advancing my knowledge and aspire to contribute to the field through teaching, research, and the development of cutting-edge instructional practices.
Through graduate coursework in instructional design, I developed a strong foundation in applying technology, collaboration, and project management to support effective learning solutions. Coursework emphasized the use of Google Workspace, Microsoft applications, and instructional technology standards (ISTE) to support adult learners and organizational training needs. I gained experience setting professional learning goals, integrating technology into instructional environments, and applying systematic instructional design models such as ADDIE to develop practical, user-focused training solutions. Collaborative projects strengthened my ability to manage timelines, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and deliver structured learning materials using tools such as Canva and Microsoft Outlook.
Additional coursework focused on creative problem-solving, instructional feedback, and performance improvement. I learned to apply storytelling, project-based learning, and learner-centered design to increase engagement and knowledge retention. Emphasis was placed on evaluating instructional effectiveness through formative and summative feedback, refining instructional strategies, and using models such as ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction) and scaffolding to support learner motivation and performance. These experiences strengthened my ability to design, evaluate, and continuously improve instructional content for diverse learning environments.
I am committed to advancing instructional design through the integration of technology, learning theory, and innovative methodologies. My focus includes learning analytics, online education, and immersive learning experiences that enhance accessibility and engagement for diverse learners. Long-term, I aim to teach, mentor, and contribute to research while leading projects that leverage emerging technologies, such as AI and virtual reality to transform education. Building on my experience in the TAMUCC IDET program, I am dedicated to shaping the next generation of instructional designers and advancing best practices in the field.
